Level 1

This is an introduction to water and is designed to make children feel more comfortable in the water.


Children will learn how to enter and exit the water safely, pick up submerged objects, float on front and back, submerge mouth, nose and eyes, exhale underwater through mouth and nose, explore hand and arm movements, swim on front and back and use a life jacket. Learn how to stay safe! Children must complete this level before undertaking Level 2.

Level 2

Here children will learn how to enter the water by stepping in, exit water using steps or side, front and back glides, become vertical from glides, roll over, tread water and additional safety skills. Children must complete this level before undertaking Level 3.

Level 3

Children will learn how to safely jump into the pool, hold breath under water, perform front starfish jellyfish & tuck floats, back floating and gliding, change direction whilst swimming on front and back. Combined arm and leg action swimming on front and back, More time will be spent on water safety issues including recognizing an emergency and calling for help

Once these levels have been completed children should be ready to learn the skills outlined on our Big Kids page.
